My Divorce Will Take How Long?! ⏰
How Do I Handle the Wait?
I hear it all the time – how quickly can I get this done? And the follow-up, how long does the average process take?
It’s understandable that once you’ve decided to move forward with divorce you want it to be done! It can seem like you’re waiting forever for your case makes its way through the snail’s-paced court system. If you feel like your life is in limbo while you wait for external forces you can’t control to give you permission to start living again, you’re not alone.
This week I go into detail about which parts of the process you can control, and which you can’t.
And importantly, what you can do to reduce your stress and manage the overwhelm, no matter where you are in the process.
It’s not about perfection!
You can find opportunities to celebrate small wins, rediscover your strength and keep making progress, one step at a time! 💝 💪

Do you have a tough question? Ask away. I’ll find the right experts to weigh in and make sure you’re getting the input you need. |
Question:
My spouse is pressuring me to make quick decisions about our assets, but I feel unprepared. How can I assert my need for time without escalating conflict?
Answer:
Feeling pressured to rush asset decisions can be stressful, but it’s important to advocate for yourself. This may be one of your first opportunities to set (and enforce!) new boundaries. Clearly and calmly communicate your need for time to review your options and seek professional advice from someone like a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.
Keep communication about this topic separate from other issues to reduce overall tension and conflict. If direct communication doesn’t work, or you continue to feel pressured you may need to involve a mediator or attorney to facilitate discussions and ensure your interests are protected. Don’t apologize for taking the time you need to make informed decisions that you will feel good about long-term. 💪 💝
