Divorced But Not Separated

Are you one of the many people living in the limbo I describe as divorced but not separated?

What do I mean?

This week I explore something I see a lot: men and women who want and need to move on after divorce, but who remain emotionally stuck in the past, unwilling or unable to disconnect from the marriage.

I think we all feel this to some degree! Ultimately, these three things helped me to spend more time looking forward than backward, and to rediscover my confidence.

I also share a list of questions you can ask yourself to find the true root of what’s keeping you stuck.

Check it out! It won’t hurt to pull back the curtain and have a peek at the amazing future you deserve. 💝💪

Do you have a tough question? Ask away. I’ll find the right experts to weigh in and make sure you’re getting the input you need.

Question: How do I get my ex to respond to an important question? I’ve texted but gotten no response.

Answer: This power play can be so frustrating. Here are a couple suggestions:

  1. Use a parenting app so you can track responses and ultimately show them in court if necessary.
  2. Send another text that is focused on the information you need (no editorial) but add: “I’ll assume this plan works unless I hear otherwise by DATE / TIME.” You can then show a judge (if necessary) that you took his lack of response to signal consent, especially if you’re on an app where you can see if he’s read the text.

Here I’ll share some of the books, websites, podcasts and experts to help make your journey a little less shitty!

Have you done any journaling during your divorce process? Writing can be a valuable way to process emotion and begin to heal. Try one of these prompts to get started!

  1. What do you do to play? When was the last time you sang, danced, or laughed hard? Write about it.
  2. Write about the best gift you ever received. Write about the best gift you ever gave.
  3. Make a gratitude list using any of these prompts: What are five things I’m grateful for today? What am I grateful for this year? What is something I am surprisingly grateful for? What are five things other than people in my life I’m grateful for?
