There’s A New Legal Divorce Support Option in Colorado

On June 20, 2024, 62 people were sworn in as the first Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals (LLPs) in Colorado.

This new licensure is specific to family law, and makes professional support accessible and affordable for many people who might otherwise elect to file for divorce on their own.

➡️ This support might be a great option for you!

Check out the full post for specifics on what LLPs can do and there’s a list below of LLPs you can contact for more information.

Do you have a tough question? Ask away. I’ll find the right experts to weigh in and make sure you’re getting the input you need.

Question:
As the holidays approach the issue I am most stressed about is more interaction with my ex. We do ok when the routine is in place and predictable but I get really anxious when I have to see him in person and respond to requests for a different schedule.

Answer:It’s so understandable that you’re anxious at this time of year. Here are three ways to reduce stress as you anticipate these interactions.

1. Remember you are in control of what you say and how you communicate. Your ex can never make you respond in a certain way, answer a call, or send a text. You have that power and he can’t take it from you.

2. Because they cause you stress, do your best to minimize in-person interactions. Be intentional about choosing pick-up / drop-off times that make your life easier and set you up for success.

3. Ask yourself what worries you most about your interaction with him. Do you feel less confident? Angry? Something else? Is there a message you can tell yourself that addresses that issue, or can you create what I call a Power Statement to remind you of your strengths and change your perspective?

However you manage this time of year, be kind to yourself. It’s often overwhelming and awareness is half the battle. You’ll do great!
