Are You Considering Nesting? Read This First!
Nesting is a shared custody arrangement where parents take turns staying in the house so the kids don’t have to move.
It sounds good, but if you’re considering this option it’s important to think through some common challenges, including:
– 💵 Surprising financial realities
– 🤬 Managing arguments
– 🤐 Privacy
And don’t overlook one important step that can make or break it. ⬇️ 💝 💪

Question:
My 11 year-old keeps asking who wanted the divorce. It wasn’t me but I’ve said it was mutual because I think it’s the right thing to do. Is it?
Answer:
Yes. At age 11 the most important thing on your child’s mind is their own environment, knowing they are safe, and that both parents love them. There is absolutely no reason to add to the stress that already comes with divorce by blaming one parent or the other. Your child benefits from a healthy relationship with both of you and your choice to take the high road is a gift to them – even though it can feel bitter to swallow the truth. There may be a day when they have a better understanding of the complexity and nuances of that difficult decision, but at age 11, it’s inappropriate and unnecessary to burden them with those adult issues.
Here I’ll share some of the books, websites, podcasts and experts to help make your journey a little less shitty!
