Divorce Advice is Tricky…

I generally believe people have good intentions, especially when it comes to supporting people they care about.

But have you noticed that during divorce, everyone has an opinion about what you should do? As the saying goes, if I had a nickel for every time I heard, “If I were you…”! 🤦‍♀️

Unfortunately, as well-intended as everyone was, the advice I got rarely aligned with my commitment to create a collaborative relationship with my ex.

I had to sort through it all and build the team that supported my vision of the future. That’s never an easy task, but it’s even harder when we’re emotionally compromised, right?

In this week’s blog post I share some things I wish I’d known, including:

💪 You are stronger and smarter than you may feel today

🦋 You are a butterfly

🤯 The “high road” is for YOU – NOT your ex

And finally, the most important thing…(hint…it’s a gift that will keep giving well beyond your divorce 💐).

Need a pep talk? Reach out! I’d love to hear about your situation. 💝

Do you have a tough question? Ask away. I’ll find the right experts to weigh in and make sure you’re getting the input you need.

This week’s question is from me to all of you!

I am currently writing a book for people navigating divorce, and I am putting together a chapter on great advice. It will include two sections: one from those of us who have experienced divorce, and another with general legal do’s and don’ts that can be applied to most divorce situations.

If you

1. Have gone through divorce yourself, or been impacted by it (as a sibling, child, or relative of someone going through it)

2. Are a divorce professional

I would love to hear your best advice to those navigating divorce.

To share advice for possible inclusion:

Send two-four sentences of your best advice to me here. It could be anything related to divorce that summarizes what you feel others would benefit from knowing. (Examples might include steps someone can take to improve the process itself, make it more expeditious, or improve their chances of being satisfied with the outcome.)

👉 I will collect responses through Monday, June 3rd, 2024. Please let me know whether you’d like to receive attribution or be listed as anonymous. I will confirm receipt and of course, send back to you for final approval.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Here I’ll share some of the books, websites, podcasts and experts to help make your journey a little less shitty!
